Metal Build Gundam Buying Guide: Is Strike Freedom Revival Worth It?

The Metal Build line from Tamashii Nations has long been the gold standard for premium Gundam action figures. With die-cast frames, intricate detailing, and engineering that pushes the boundaries of what a poseable figure can do, these releases command attention—and premium prices. Among the most anticipated recent entries is the Metal Build Strike Freedom Gundam (Revival Ver.), a reimagining of one of the most iconic mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.

But with a hefty price tag and a crowded market of Metal Build releases, you might be wondering: is the Strike Freedom Revival worth it? In this buying guide, we'll break down what makes this figure special, how it compares to other Metal Build offerings, and what you should consider before adding it to your collection. Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the Metal Build line, this guide will help you make an informed decision.

What Is the Metal Build Strike Freedom Gundam (Revival Ver.)?

The Metal Build Strike Freedom Gundam (Revival Ver.) is a premium action figure that reimagines the iconic Strike Freedom from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. As part of the Metal Build line, it features a die-cast internal frame that provides stability and a satisfying weight, while the outer armor is meticulously detailed with panel lines, markings, and a striking color scheme. This 'Revival' version updates the original Metal Build Strike Freedom with improved articulation, updated proportions, and enhanced accessories, making it a must-have for fans of the series.

One of the standout features of this figure is its impressive wings of light, which can be displayed in various configurations. The figure also includes a range of weapons, including beam rifles, railguns, and beam sabers, all with intricate detailing. The articulation is top-notch, allowing for dynamic poses that capture the mobile suit's agility. For collectors who value screen accuracy and playability, this figure delivers on both fronts.

• Die-cast frame for stability and weight
• Enhanced articulation for dynamic posing
• Includes wings of light and full weapon set
• Updated proportions and detailing compared to the original release

Strike Freedom Revival vs. Other Metal Build Gundam Figures

When considering a Metal Build Gundam purchase, it's essential to compare the Strike Freedom Revival with other figures in the line. For instance, the Metal Robot Spirit Gundam Barbatos Lupus Figure Rex - Limited Color Edition offers a different aesthetic and scale, focusing on the gritty world of Iron-Blooded Orphans. While the Barbatos Lupus Rex is a fantastic figure in its own right, it features a more rugged design and a different articulation system, appealing to fans of that series.

Another notable release is the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Metal Build Strike Freedom Gundam (Revival Ver.)—wait, that's the same figure. Let's look at the Metal Build line's other offerings, such as the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex. This figure is known for its imposing presence and heavy weaponry, but it lacks the sleek, angelic aesthetic of the Strike Freedom. If you're a fan of the SEED universe, the Strike Freedom Revival is a must-have, but if you're looking for variety, you might consider adding both to your collection.

• Consider your favorite Gundam series when choosing a Metal Build figure
• Compare articulation, accessories, and display value
• Check the aftermarket prices for older Metal Build releases

Is the Strike Freedom Revival Worth the Price?

The Metal Build Strike Freedom (Revival Ver.) comes with a premium price tag, but is it justified? For collectors who prioritize quality, the answer is often yes. The die-cast frame gives the figure a substantial feel, and the attention to detail is remarkable. The wings of light alone are a spectacle, and the sheer number of accessories adds to the value. When you consider the engineering that goes into each Metal Build figure, the price becomes more palatable.

However, it's important to weigh your options. If you're on a budget, there are more affordable alternatives in the S.H.Figuarts line, such as the Dragon Ball Super S.H.Figuarts Super Saiyan God Goku (God Aura) Action Figure, which offers excellent quality at a lower price point. But if you're a dedicated Gundam collector who appreciates the pinnacle of action figure engineering, the Strike Freedom Revival is a worthy investment that will likely appreciate in value over time.

• Metal Build figures often hold or increase in value over time
• Consider the display impact of the wings of light in your collection
• Think about your budget and long-term collecting goals

Alternatives to Consider in the Metal Build Line

If you're still on the fence, it's worth exploring other Metal Build releases that might suit your taste. The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Metal Build Strike Freedom Gundam (Revival Ver.) is a standout, but there are also figures like the Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex, which offers a different flavor of Gundam action. For fans of the One Piece series, the One Piece S.H.Figuarts Shanks (Marineford) Action Figure is a great non-Gundam alternative, though it's not part of the Metal Build line.

Another route is to pre-order upcoming releases, such as the PRE-ORDER: Jujutsu Kaisen S.H.Figuarts Choso Action Figure, which might be more budget-friendly. But for Gundam enthusiasts, the Metal Build line remains the pinnacle. If you're torn between multiple figures, consider your display space and which mobile suit resonates with you the most.
